This is a Fun Run to raise money for the Down Syndrome Association of the Mid Columbia and to celebrate Down Syndrome Day! We are fortunate that this year the run will actually BE on Down Syndrome Day so we are planning a big celebration for this years event. It is a run that promotes inclusion, awareness and acceptance of those of ALL abilities. March 21 is World Down Syndrome Day, a day that is set aside to recognize individuals with Down Syndrome and the unique personality and qualities they bring to all who come in contact with them. Everyone is encouraged to wear colorful socks on this day. The event begins with a Pre-race Zumba to get us started. There is a 1 mile, 5K & 10K. The 1 mile begins at 9am, the 5K & 10K at 9:30am. Each finisher will receive a pair of colorful socks for Down Syndrome Day and a small medal. This year the socks will be blue and yellow for Awareness. There will be plenty of post race food to for all finishers and even a celebratory cake to honor Down Syndrome Day. The run will take place at Chiawana Park in Pasco and is an out and back run along the footpath along the river. So grab your crazy colorful socks and show your support for Down Syndrome Day and join us in this fun event.
