This is the FIRST Event in the MultiSport Series - May 15, 2021
This race is at Kiona Vineyards and Winery in Benton City. The race starts with a 2.5 mile run along the gravel and dirt roads that surround the Kiona Vineyards and Winery (44612 N. Sunset Rd; Benton City). The run is totally cross country. The cycle leg (MOUNTAIN BIKES, ONLY) is 10 miles long and takes a few loops via the dirt roads through the Kiona Vineyards and neighboring KS Vineyards, and then takes Artz Road and Sunset Road back to the transition area. After racking your bike, repeat the first run to reach the finish line.
COVID SAFETY PRECAUTIONS: We will be following the guidelines from the Governor's office to keep everyone safe and healthy before, during, and after the race. We expect 100% compliance from all race participants and volunteers. Below are the main aspects of our Covid safety plan:
Wear your face mask/face covering at all times before the race as you arrive for packet pickup, setting up in the transition area, and waiting for your wave to start at the start line. Keep your face mask/face covering handy in the transition area so that you can put it back on upon finishing the race.
Practice social distancing before and after the race.
In your packet, you will be provided with a disposable face mask to wear as you get ready to start the race. Wear this mask until just before your wave starts, where there will be a garbage can to dispose of your mask before you start the race.
The start of the race will be in waves spaced 1 minute apart. 10 runners per each wave and please self-seed yourself in the waves such that the faster runners are in the earlier waves and slower runners in the later waves. We will send out an e-mail prior to the race so you will have an idea how many waves there will be and can plan accordingly.
We will set up the start area to keep the starting waves socially distanced from each other.
Again, you can dispose of the mask just prior to your wave starting, so there is no need to wear the mask during the race.
Upon finishing the race, please retrieve your face mask/face covering from the transition area and put it back on. Keep it in place, except when you are drinking water from the bottles provided.
We cannot have a large gathering for an award ceremony. Instead, check the Negative Split website on your phone at www.nsplit.com/results to see if you placed in your age group or were one of the top 3 overall men or women and you can collect your award outside on the deck at Kiona Winery after the race. Awards are race glasses that will NOT be mailed. If you miss the pick up after the race you will need to contact Eric at sagag@charter.net to arrange a pickup time for your award.

Athletes must use mountain bike frames with 26-29 inch wheels, and tires with a minimum 1.5 inch width (no road tires allowed) and have some sort of knobby, raised pattern that covers more than 50% of the tire surface. Continue with your registration until credit card payment is complete.

Volunteers: We need lots of volunteers for all our multi-sport events. If you can help at this event, please contact Eric Greager at sageg@charter.net .

If you are a USAT member you do not need to choose the One Day License – be sure to provide your USAT member number where prompted below. If you are not a USAT member, you MUST choose to purchase the One Day License to do this race.
