2012 Multi-Sport Standings So what will the second half to the series bring? Brian is going to be hard to catch in the men’s division, but there will be plenty of moving around in the division below the number 1 spot, and if Brian should falter then the title will be up for grabs. The women’s bracket is wide open…Jen had a disasterous crash at the Rage in the Sage and she has been battling back ever since. Once again it’s going to come down to the last event of the season, since Titanium Man has the greatest point value and those that do well in that race are going to get the chance to move up. And, of course, I will include our annual tutorial here on how the points are scored. Half your points are based on your time compared to the men’s or women’s champion’s time and the other half based on your time compared to the winning time in your age group. And then a degree of difficulty is applied, with Titanium Man being 1.0 and all the other races (which are shorter) with a D of D less than 1.0 based on the champion’s finish time for each of these races. Of course, there is one caveat…an infinite population would yield results such that older 20’s and younger 30’s have the fastest times. One would expect 30-year olds to be faster than 40’s, 40-year olds to be faster than 50’s, etc. With our smaller populations in each race it does not always work out this way. So, if you are a 44-year old and the age group winner in an older age group is faster than the winner of the 40-44 age group your age group time will be compared to the winning time in that older age group. Also, young 20’s are expected to be as fast as older 40’s, and their age group times will be compared accordingly. Drop me a line at sageg@charter.net if you have any questions on this. By the way, if you have completed the first 3 events of the series and don’t see your name on the list, please contact me right away. Thanks. Eric]]>
