SUMMARY:Open Water River Swims
DESCRIPTION:OPEN WATER RIVER SWIMS! To help you get ready for our local triathlons\, including the 70.3 in September\, we will have open water river swims on Friday and Saturday mornings starting June 21 at 8:00 am. Meet at the public parking lot just upstream (north) of 178 Bradly Blvd in Richland and we will carpool up to the start at Howard Amon Park.  After we swim back down\, you can use the warm water hose in Eric’s driveway to warm up and get the river muck off you and your wetsuit! \nSome important notes about these swims.  There is NO LIFEGUARD for these swims.  If you show up to swim it means that you are capable of doing the swim without help from others.  We may have an escort kayak/paddle board every now and then\, but don’t count on that.  Secondly\, especially since we won’t always have an escort kayak\, you must swim with a swim safety buoy to provide extra visibility to the boaters on the river.  A brightly colored pool toy tethered to your ankle works\, but the SaferSwimmer buoy (or other brands) usually have a dry bag within the buoy that is mighty handy for storing flops\, keys\, and whatever during your swim. \nForward any questions to Eric at sageg@charter.net.

SUMMARY:Titanium Man Junior Triathlon
DESCRIPTION:To register for this race go to Titanium Man Junior Triathlon (runsignup.com)\nPlace\nHoward Amon Park\n500 Amon Drive\nRichland\, WA US 99352\n\n\n\n\nDescription\n\n\nTITANIUM MAN JR. TRI\nRace date is August 17\, 2024 \nFor 7-12 year old triathletes! \nHey kids –> It’s your turn! Here is a chance to give triathlon a try. See if you’ve got what it takes to get to the finish line…we think you can do it. \nHey parents –>Here is a chance for your young athletes to try something a little different by putting a swim\, bike\, and run together in one event. We have designed a safe course with plenty of adult supervision that will be fun for the kids to challenge.  The 250-yard swim will be in the river in a shallow area near shore with plenty of boat and swimmer support. The 4.5-mile bike leg is all on a bike path\, except for a short portion in the boat ramp parking lot which will be heavily barricaded and controlled. Helmets are required during the bike ride. The 1-mile run will be completely on a foot path. \nIMPORTANT BIKE INFORMATION.  PLEASE READ CAREFULLY.  WE WILL NO LONGER ALLOW THE USE OF LIGHTWEIGHT\, MULTI-SPEED RACING BIKES WITH LIGHTWEIGHT SKINNY TIRES.  THE OLDER KIDS HAVE COME TO BE TOO FAST ON THESE BIKES TO SAFELY NAVIGATE THE COURSE.  ACCEPTABLE BIKES INCLUDE MOUNTAIN BIKES\, SINGLE SPEED BIKES\, CRUISERS\, SPIDERMAN BIKES\, HELLO KITTY BIKES WITH A BASKET IN FRONT…YOU KNOW\, KID’S BIKES.  IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT THE BIKE YOU PLAN TO USE\, SEND A DESCRIPTION AND A PHOTO TO ERIC AT sageg@charter.net.  \nCOVID SAFETY PRECAUTIONS: We will be following the guidelines from the Governor’s office to keep everyone safe and healthy before\, during\, and after the race.  This guidance may change between now and race day\, and we expect 100% compliance from all race participants\, parents and volunteers. We will email the safety precautions we plan to take just before race day. \nWhat: It’s a triathlon that starts with a swim\, goes directly into a bike\, and then finishes with the run. Once the starting gun goes off\, the action is non-stop and doesn’t end until the run is completed.  The 9 to 12 year olds will finish a course that consists of a 200 yard swim\, 4.5 mile bike and a one-mile run.  The 7 and 8 year olds will do the same swim\, but bike and run half the distance of the older kids. \nWhere: Howard Amon Park\, Richland\, Washington. Look for the picnic shelter in the south end of the park\, on the river side of the Richland Community Center for race HQ. \nDay Before Race Schedule: Packet pickup from 4:30 to 6:00 pm at Reborn Bike Shop\, 1341 George Washington Way\, Richlkand\, WA  99354. \nRace Day Schedule: On race day\, arrive early and be prepared for the following:\n• 7:00 am – Packet pickup starts\n• 8:15 am – Mandatory pre-race meeting\n• 8:45 am – Race starts for the 7 and 8 year olds – 9-12 year olds start after the 7 and 8’s have finished (approximately 9:15 am) \n• 11:00am – Course closes \nCost: $25 per triathlete\, which includes a race t-shirt and a one-day insurance license for the USA Triathlon Federation.  After August 8\, 2023 the cost goes up to $30 since we will be mailing you your shirt. \nUSAT: Your entry fee includes a one-day insurance license for the USA Triathlon Federation. . \nPre-Registration: The only way to guarantee a t-shirt on race day is to register on-line before the pre-registration deadline of August 8\, 2023. \nOn-line Registration Deadline: August 16\, 2023 and registration will close earlier if participant limit of 200 is reached. \nAwards: The overall boy and girl champion in the race receives a special award\, along with the top 3 boys and girls in the 7 -8\, 9-10\, and 11 -12 age groups.  You can check the Negative Split website on your phone at www.nsplit.com/results\, or look to the paper copies posted at the picnic shelter where you picked up your packet to see if you placed in your age group or were the overall winners of the race.  We will have the award ceremony as soon as possible after the race. \nTHERE IS NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION – THE ONLY WAY TO REGISTER IS ON-LINE BY THE DATES LISTED ABOVE.
