SUMMARY:Rage Training Rides and Runs
DESCRIPTION:The Rage in the Sage Duathlon is coming up soon on May 13th\, so its time to get signed up at Rage in the Sage Duathlon (runsignup.com).  The race consists of a 2.5 mile run\, 10 mile mountain bike\, and then the same 2.5 mile run.  And the winery is open when you finish! \nYou get the chance to preview the course by joining us for some of the training rides and runs that will occur on several Saturdays before the race…specifically April 1\, 8\, 29\, and May 6.  We meet at noon at Kiona Winery (44612 N. Sunset Rd; Benton City) in the lower parking lot.  The course goes through and around the vineyard and we cruise the bike course\, maybe strap on the running shoes to check out the run course\, and then chill with a bottle of red at the winery.  Hope to see you there! \nContact Eric at sageg@charter.net if you have any questions.

DESCRIPTION:We are excited to announce our first annual Damn Good Run! Besides running or walking next to the beautiful Columbia River\, you’ll have the unique opportunity to be on top of the McNary Dam. This section is not normally open to the public and offers great views of the river! This year we’re hosting a 5k & 10k race that starts and ends at West Park (on 3rd street just 1/2 mile West of the Fish Viewing Room). DESCRIPTION:To sign up for the Rage in the Sage Duathlon\, go to Rage in the Sage Duathlon (runsignup.com)\n\nPLACE\n44612 North Sunset Road\nBenton City\, WA US 99320\n\n\n\n\n\nDATE: Saturday\, May 13\, 2023\n\n\nTIME: Race starts at 9:00 am and the course closes at 11:30 am. \nDESCRIPTION: The Rage in the Sage Duathlon is at Kiona Vineyards and Winery in Benton City. The race starts with a 2.5 mile run along the gravel and dirt roads that surround the Kiona Vineyards and Winery (44612 N. Sunset Rd; Benton City). The run is totally cross country. The cycle leg (MOUNTAIN BIKES\, ONLY) is 10 miles long and takes a few loops via the dirt roads through the Kiona Vineyards and neighboring KS Vineyards\, and then takes Artz Road and Sunset Road back to the transition area. After racking your bike\, repeat the first run to reach the finish line. \nCOVID SAFETY PRECAUTIONS: We will be following the guidelines from the Governor’s office to keep everyone safe and healthy before\, during\, and after the race.  We expect 100% compliance from all race participants and volunteers.  We will email all participants the list of Covid precautions that we will be taking just before the race rolls around. \nNOTE TO LOCALS Kiona Vineyards and Winery\,KS Vineyards\,and Artz Road are all private property. Do not do training rides on these portions of the course without contacting Eric Greager (race director) at sageg@charter.net . \nCourse training rides will be held on April 1st\, 8th\, and 29th and May 6th. Training rides start at noon from Kiona Vineyards and Winery in Benton City. \nEntry Fee:  $40 by May 1st and after that it will be $55 ($3 discount for 3RRR members if by May 1st). \nEntry Fee plus One Day License: add $15 to the above prices if you don’t have a USAT card.\n(As a sanctioned USA Triathlon (USAT) event\, all participants are required to have a USAT license. If you are not a card carrying member a One Day License must be purchased for $15. If you are a current USAT member you won’t need to purchase a One Day License. Simply enter your USAT Member Number where prompted.) \n3RRR members get the discount mentioned above if they register by the pre-registration deadline of May 1st. \nAthlete limit for this event is 225 individuals. Race day registration will NOT be available. \nABSOLUTELY NO REFUNDS: We sympathize with life’s uncertainties but there are no refunds or transfers (to another race or the team competition). Please\, please\, please plan accordingly. \nChip Timing: Timing chips will be used to record split and finish times. Timing chips will be distributed race morning at check-in. REMEMBER TO TURN YOUR CHIP IN AT THE FINISH LINE TO AVOID A LOST CHIP FEE. They might not be available unless you pre-register by May 1st. \nAge Categories: 13-19\,20-24\,25-29\,30-34\,35-39\,40-44\,45-49\,50-54\,55-59\,60-64\,65-69\,70-75\, 76-80 \nTeam Competition: Along with the individuals in the race\, two-person teams are also invited to compete.  Team categories include open\, coed\, and women’s teams.  Carefully select the category you wish to sign up for. \nDay Before Race Schedule: You can pick up your race packet between 4:30 and 6:00 pm at the Reborn Bike Shop\, 1341 George Washington Way\, Richland\, WA 99354) \nRace Day Schedule: On race day\, arrive early and be prepared for the following:\n• 7:00 am – Packet pickup starts\n• 8:30 am – Mandatory pre-race meeting\n• 9:00 am – Race start\n• 11:30 am – Course closes \nAward Ceremony:  We cannot have a large gathering for an award ceremony.  Instead\, check the Negative Split website on your phone at www.nsplit.com/results\, or the paper results posted on the side of the 3RRR trailer\, to see if you placed in your age group or were one of the top 3 overall men or women and you can collect your award outside on the deck at Kiona Winery after the race.  Awards are race glasses that will NOT be mailed.  If you miss the pick up after the race you will need to contact Eric at sagag@charter.net to arrange a pickup time for your award. \nSpecial Considerations: Please note the following:\n• Mountain bikes\, ONLY. Athletes must use mountain bike frames with 26-29 inch wheels\, and tires with a minimum 1.5 inch width (no road tires allowed) and have some sort of knobby\, raised pattern that covers more than 50% of the tire surface.  So that means the slick portion of the tire is less than 50% of the tire surface. \nQuestions: Please contact Eric Greager at sageg@charter.net  with any race questions. \nVolunteers: We need lots of volunteers for all our multi-sport events.
