Athletes must use mountain bike frames with 26-29 inch wheels\, and tires with a minimum 1.5 inch width (no road tires allowed) and have some sort of knobby\, raised pattern that covers more than 50% of the tire surface.  So that means the slick portion of the tire is less than 50% of the tire surface. \n* We will also have a special GRAVEL BIKE division\, with the top 3 overall men and women each receiving an age group type award.  Gravel bikes will NOT be included in the overall or age group awards. \nQuestions: Please contact Eric Greager at sageg@charter.net  with any race questions. \nVolunteers: We need lots of volunteers for all our multi-sport events. SUMMARY:OPEN WATER RIVER SWIMS
DESCRIPTION:OPEN WATER RIVER SWIMS! To help you get ready for our local triathlons\, including the 70.3 in September\, we will have open water river swims on most Friday and Saturday mornings starting June 20 at 8:00 am. No river swims when there is an event that day.  Go to the Calendar at www.3RRR.org to see the list of Friday/Saturday swim days. \nMeet at the public parking lot just upstream (north) of 178 Bradly Blvd in Richland (Marina Vista Estates townhouse complex) and we will carpool up to the start at Howard Amon Park.  After we swim back down\, you can use the warm water hose in Eric’s driveway to warm up and get the river muck off you and your wetsuit! \nSome important notes about these swims.  There is NO LIFEGUARD for these swims.  If you show up to swim it means that you are capable of doing the swim without help from others.  We may have an escort kayak/paddle board every now and then\, but don’t count on that.  Secondly\, especially since we won’t always have an escort kayak\, you must swim with a swim safety buoy to provide extra visibility to the boaters on the river.  A brightly colored pool toy tethered to your ankle works\, but the SaferSwimmer buoy (or other brands) usually have a dry bag within the buoy that is mighty handy for storing flops\, keys\, and whatever during your swim. \nForward any questions to Eric at sageg@charter.net.

SUMMARY:OPEN WATER RIVER SWIMS
DESCRIPTION:NOTE – WE WILL START OUR SWIM OFF THE HOWARD AMON BOAT LAUNCH DOCK (AS USUAL) AND THEN GO INTO SHORE JUST DOWNSTREAM OF THE BIG BOAT DOCK TO HELP THE KIDS OUT WITH THEIR PRACTICE SWIM FOR THE TITANIUM MAN JUNIOR TRIATHLON. \nOPEN WATER RIVER SWIMS!

SUMMARY:Titanium Man Junior Triathlon
DESCRIPTION:To sign up for this event go to Titanium Man Junior Triathlon \n\n\nPlace\nHoward Amon Park\n500 Amon Drive\nRichland\, WA US 99352\n\n\n\n\nDescription\n\n\nTITANIUM MAN JR. See if you’ve got what it takes to get to the finish line…we think you can do it. \nHey parents –> Here is a chance for your young athletes to try something a little different by putting a swim\, bike\, and run together in one event. We have designed a safe course with plenty of adult supervision that will be fun for the kids to challenge.  The 200-yard swim will be in the river in a shallow area near shore with plenty of adult swimmer support. The 4.5-mile bike leg is all on a bike path\, except for a short portion in the boat ramp parking lot which will be heavily barricaded and controlled. Helmets are required during the bike ride. The 1-mile run will be completely on a foot path.  7 & 8 year olds will bike and run half of this distance. \nIMPORTANT BIKE INFORMATION.  PLEASE READ CAREFULLY.  WE WILL NO LONGER ALLOW THE USE OF LIGHTWEIGHT\, MULTI-SPEED RACING BIKES WITH LIGHTWEIGHT SKINNY TIRES.  THE OLDER KIDS HAVE COME TO BE TOO FAST ON THESE BIKES TO SAFELY NAVIGATE THE COURSE.  ACCEPTABLE BIKES INCLUDE MOUNTAIN BIKES\, SINGLE SPEED BIKES\, CRUISERS\, SPIDERMAN BIKES\, HELLO KITTY BIKES WITH A BASKET IN FRONT…YOU KNOW\, KID’S BIKES.  IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT THE BIKE YOU PLAN TO USE\, SEND A DESCRIPTION AND A PHOTO TO ERIC AT sageg@charter.net.   \nWhat: It’s a triathlon that starts with a swim\, goes directly into a bike\, and then finishes with the run. Once the starting gun goes off\, the action is non-stop and doesn’t end until the run is completed.  The 9 to 12 year olds will finish a course that consists of a 200 yard swim\, 4.5 mile bike and a one-mile run.  The 7 and 8 year olds will do the same swim\, but bike and run half the distance of the older kids. \nWhere: Howard Amon Park\, Richland\, Washington. Look for the picnic shelter in the south end of the park\, on the river side of the Richland Community Center for race HQ. \nDay Before Race Schedule: Packet pickup from 4:30 to 6:00 pm at Atomic Ale Brewpub\, 1015 Lee Blvd\, Richland\, WA  99352. \nRace Day Schedule: On race day\, arrive early and be prepared for the following:\n• 7:00 am – Packet pickup starts\n• 8:15 am – Mandatory pre-race meeting\n• 8:45 am – Race starts for the 7 and 8 year olds – 9-12 year olds start after the 7 and 8’s have finished (approximately 9:15 am) \n• 11:00am – Course closes \nTo sign up for this event go to Titanium Man Junior Triathlon \nCost: $20 per triathlete.   After July 21\, 2025 the cost goes up to $25 since we will be mailing you your shirt. \nUSAT:   Every child participating in the triathlon must become a member of the USA Triathlon Federation.
