SUMMARY:Open Water River Swims
DESCRIPTION:We plan to start getting is some river swims starting on July 1st.  We will meet up Friday mornings at 7:30 and Saturday mornings at 8:30.  Meet up spot is the same as previous years\, which is the public parking lot just upstream of the Marina Vista Estates townhouse complex (downstream from the River Front Hotel).  We drive to the upstream get in point and then swim downriver\, getting out across from Eric’s townhouse\, where a warm water hose will be available to wash off the river scum and rinse out your wetsuit.  3 things to know: \n\nYou need to swim with a swim buoy or some other brightly colored floaty toy that increases your visibility to the boaters.  When everyone wears one it increases the visibility for all of us.\nThese are not lifeguarded swims.  Some times we may have an escort kayak or SUP\, but don’t expect one.\nDue to number 2 above\, if you show up for the swim you are making the statement that you are capable of swimming in the river.  The river is colder and darker than any pool you swim in. Mountain bikes only. \nThe 3 mile run is along the foot paths heading south from the park\, with the finish back in the park. \nCOVID SAFETY PRECAUTIONS: We will be following the guidelines from the Governor’s office to keep everyone safe and healthy before\, during\, and after the race.  We expect 100% compliance from all race participants and volunteers. \nFees:\n• Race – $40 by June 27th and $55 after that date (3RRR members get a $3 discount if registered by June 27th)\n• Race plus 1 One Day License – add $15 to the prices listed above\n(As a sanctioned USA Triathlon (USAT) event\, all participants are required to have a USAT license. DESCRIPTION:TO REGISTER FOR THE RAGE IN THE SAGE DUATHLON\, GO TO: \nRage in the Sage Duathlon (runsignup.com) \nDATE: Saturday\, May 14\, 2022 \nTIME: Race starts at 9:00 am and the course closes at 11:30 am. \nDESCRIPTION: The Rage in the Sage Duathlon is at Kiona Vineyards and Winery in Benton City. The race starts with a 2.5 mile run along the gravel and dirt roads that surround the Kiona Vineyards and Winery (44612 N. Sunset Rd; Benton City). The run is totally cross country. The cycle leg (MOUNTAIN BIKES\, ONLY) is 10 miles long and takes a few loops via the dirt roads through the Kiona Vineyards and neighboring KS Vineyards\, and then takes Artz Road and Sunset Road back to the transition area. After racking your bike\, repeat the first run to reach the finish line. \nCOVID SAFETY PRECAUTIONS: We will be following the guidelines from the Governor’s office to keep everyone safe and healthy before\, during\, and after the race.  We expect 100% compliance from all race participants and volunteers.  We will email all participants the list of Covid precautions that we will be taking just before the race rolls around. \nNOTE TO LOCALS Kiona Vineyards and Winery\,KS Vineyards\,and Artz Road are all private property. DESCRIPTION:This is a run that celebrates Down Syndrome Day! It is a fundraiser for the DS Association in our area & all proceeds go to this organization. Ever since the race director\, Raquel Sampson\, had a child with DS\, she wanted to create an event that would promote awareness\, inclusion\, acceptance & an opportunity to get individuals like her daughter the joy that comes from running & crossing a finish line. That’s what this run is all about! This run has a 1mile\, 5k & 10k distances. It starts at Chiawana Park in Pasco & is an out & back course on the footpath.
