Age group winners claim awards immediately on finish. \n  \nRegister at https://runsignup.com/Race/WA/Richland/TriCitiesMarathonRelay    \nCourse: \n  \nThe Half Marathon course is 6.55 miles out-and-back into Pasco\, turning around on the trail just before the Road 54 boat launch. This is a USATF certified course through 2027. \n  \nThe Marathon course is planned to be the same as 2024\, again following the Pasco river trail past the Cable Bridge before crossing it into Kennewick. From there\, the course is a mix of trail and bike lane going west on Columbia Park Trail. Turn north on the 240 side path and west towards Chamna Park\, turning around about 1/3 of the way up the I-182 bridge. Follow the 240 trail back into Richland and to the Riverfront Hotel. USATF Certification for this course is in progress. \n  \nRelay Exchange 1 is at the Road 54 parking area in Pasco. Exchange 2 is at the turn into Columbia Park in Kennewick (just before the skate park). Exchange 3 is at the east end of Carrier Road in Richland. If your team does not have all 4 members\, you may allocate the relay legs however you wish. Parking is generous at all 3 exchange points. You are responsible for arranging for transport to/from these points. \n  \nBoth courses are mostly flat apart from the bridges. The final 8 miles of the Marathon course are slightly rolling. Elevation gain for the Marathon is about 400ft. \n  \nEvery turn will be clearly marked with spray chalk\, cones\, signs\, etc. and a friendly marshal if enough volunteer. (Yes\, we need VOLUNTEERS!)  We will also have markers at every mile and 5km intervals. A comprehensive guide to the course can be found in the Athlete’s Guide. \n  \nRegister at https://runsignup.com/Race/WA/Richland/TriCitiesMarathonRelay \nAid Stations: \n  \nThe exact locations and intervals of the aid stations are TBD\, but will be approximately every 2 miles as with most other marathons. You will get about 12 stations for the Marathon\, 6 for the Half Marathon\, and 2-3 for each relay leg. These stations will be stocked with water\, electrolytes\, energy gels\, and other snacks. Info on each aid station will be posted in the Athlete’s Guide. \n  \nLet us know how we can improve our aid stations! They are a key component to a quality marathon experience\, and being a small event means we are able to take a more individualized approach to them. What are some of your favorite things to take at aid stations? We are all ears to that! \n  \n  \nTraining: \n  \n“It’s not about the destination\, it’s about the journey there” could not be more true for long distance events\, and you never have to tackle this by yourself. The Tri-Cities has several great running coaches and groups. \nFleet Feet Richland is hosting a training program for the Half Marathon. Long Runs are 8AM Saturdays and Workouts are 6PM Wednesdays at their Richland location. Click the following link for more info. https://www.fleetfeet.com/s/tricities/training/fall-distance-training \nThe Richland RunFest also hosts a long run group. They currently meet Sundays at 7AM at the Wake Up Call Coffee near Howard Amon Park. Facebook Group Link: https://www.facebook.com/richlandrunfest \nBoth of these groups\, as with most others in the area\, welcome all paces and abilities. \nOther training groups may pop up here and there\, and we will announce as many as we can on our web pages. If you prefer to train by yourself\, there are many free training programs and pace calculators on the internet. Take full advantage of the resources around you! \n  \n  \nWeather: \n  \nThe weather in late October can vary greatly. In 2023\, the start temperature was 25F with minimal wind. In 2024\, the start temperature was in the 40s but with extreme winds up to 20mph. The average conditions are low 30s with a slight wind blowing east. Please plan for any conditions! The race will be held regardless of conditions as long as it is safe. \n  \n  \nVolunteers!!! \n  \nNo organized running event would be possible without the help of volunteers. Between aid stations\, course marshals\, event setup\, etc.\, we will need about 70-90 volunteers to make this event the best it can be\, and of course any extra help we can get is greatly appreciated. Have family/friends not doing anything on a Sunday morning? Bring them out with you to help you and fellow runners on your way! (Did I mention fresh air is good for everyone?) \n  \nRegister at https://runsignup.com/Race/WA/Richland/TriCitiesMarathonRelay \nRecords: \n  \nMen’s Marathon: Michael Brady – 2:22:51 (1983) \nWomen’s Marathon: Kari Hamilton – 2:54:06 (2023) \nMen’s Marathon\, 2005 Course: Michael Williams – 2:30:25 (2023) \n2024 Course: Ian Sharman – 2:46:45. SUMMARY:OPEN WATER RIVER SWIMS
DESCRIPTION:NOTE: THIS SWIM STARTS EARLIER THAN OUR REGULAR 70.3 SWIMS.  WE WILL MEET AT THE BRADLEY BLVD PARKING LOT AT 6:15 AM AND DRIVE UP TO THE RICHLAND COMMUNITY CENTER.  FROM THERE WE GET IN THE WATER AT 6:30 AND SWIM THE ACTUAL 70.3 COURSE.  NOT DOING THE OVERSWIM ON THIS DAY\, TWO DAYS BEFORE IRONMAN 70.3.  Contact Eric at sageg@charter.net if you have any questions. \nOPEN WATER RIVER SWIMS! To help you get ready for our local triathlons\, including the 70.3 in September\, we will have open water river swims on most Friday and Saturday mornings starting June 20 at 8:00 am. No river swims when there is an event that day.  Go to the Calendar at www.3RRR.org to see the list of Friday/Saturday swim days. \nMeet at the public parking lot just upstream (north) of 178 Bradly Blvd in Richland (Marina Vista Estates townhouse complex) and we will carpool up to the start at Howard Amon Park.  After we swim back down\, you can use the warm water hose in Eric’s driveway to warm up and get the river muck off you and your wetsuit! \nSome important notes about these swims.  There is NO LIFEGUARD for these swims.  If you show up to swim it means that you are capable of doing the swim without help from others.  We may have an escort kayak/paddle board every now and then\, but don’t count on that.  Secondly\, especially since we won’t always have an escort kayak\, you must swim with a swim safety buoy to provide extra visibility to the boaters on the river.  A brightly colored pool toy tethered to your ankle works\, but the SaferSwimmer buoy (or other brands) usually have a dry bag within the buoy that is mighty handy for storing flops\, keys\, and whatever during your swim. \nForward any questions to Eric at sageg@charter.net.

SUMMARY:OPEN WATER RIVER SWIMS
DESCRIPTION:OPEN WATER RIVER SWIMS!

The 4.5-mile bike leg is all on a bike path\, except for a short portion in the boat ramp parking lot which will be heavily barricaded and controlled. Helmets are required during the bike ride. The 1-mile run will be completely on a foot path.  7 & 8 year olds will bike and run half of this distance. \nIMPORTANT BIKE INFORMATION.  PLEASE READ CAREFULLY.  WE WILL NO LONGER ALLOW THE USE OF LIGHTWEIGHT\, MULTI-SPEED RACING BIKES WITH LIGHTWEIGHT SKINNY TIRES.  THE OLDER KIDS HAVE COME TO BE TOO FAST ON THESE BIKES TO SAFELY NAVIGATE THE COURSE.  ACCEPTABLE BIKES INCLUDE MOUNTAIN BIKES\, SINGLE SPEED BIKES\, CRUISERS\, SPIDERMAN BIKES\, HELLO KITTY BIKES WITH A BASKET IN FRONT…YOU KNOW\, KID’S BIKES.  IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT THE BIKE YOU PLAN TO USE\, SEND A DESCRIPTION AND A PHOTO TO ERIC AT sageg@charter.net.   \nWhat: It’s a triathlon that starts with a swim\, goes directly into a bike\, and then finishes with the run. SUMMARY:OPEN WATER RIVER SWIMS
DESCRIPTION:NOTE – WE WILL START OUR SWIM OFF THE HOWARD AMON BOAT LAUNCH DOCK (AS USUAL) AND THEN GO INTO SHORE JUST DOWNSTREAM OF THE BIG BOAT DOCK TO HELP THE KIDS OUT WITH THEIR PRACTICE SWIM FOR THE TITANIUM MAN JUNIOR TRIATHLON.
