SUMMARY:Plutonium Man Triathlon
DESCRIPTION:THE PLUTONIUM MAN TRIATHLON TAKES PLACE ON AUGUST 27\, 2022 \nTO REGISTER FOR THE PLUTONIUM MAN TRIATHLON\, GO TO: \nPlutonium Man Triathlon (runsignup.com) \nNEW THIS YEAR:  A sprint distance triathlon will be added to the race\, so you have the choice of Olympic distance\, sprint distance\, or relay teams for the Olympic distance event. \nRACE FORMAT: 1.3 km swim; 40 km bike; 10 km run for the Olympic distance triathlon and 1.3 km swim\, 20 km bike\, and 5 km run for the sprint distance triathlon. \nCourse Description: Swimmers enter the Columbia River at a beach about 400 yards upstream of the North Richland starch plant (note that the start on the map is not accurate…we will not start at the POB low dock barge slip) and swim downstream with the current (fast times\, baby) 1.3 km to the exit just upstream of Sprout Road.  The single transition area will be at the SE corner of the WSU Tri-Cities campus grounds.  Cyclists will head west on Sprout Road\, turn right on George Washington Way and follow the course as described on the course maps.  Olympic distance triathletes will do 2 loops of the bike course while the sprint distance triathletes do one loop. \nThe run will also consist of two loops that take runners upstream (north) along the foot path\, with a hard left turn by the Triton Submarine monument\, back along Richardson Road\, taking a left on Crimson Way\, and back through the WSU campus.  Olympic distance triathletes do two loops of this course and the sprint distance triathletes do one loop of the run course. \nCOVID SAFETY PRECAUTIONS: We will be following the guidelines from the Governor’s office to keep everyone safe and healthy before\, during\, and after the race.  We will send out pertinent information on any precautions we need to take about a week before the race. \nFees: \n• Race – $45 by August 15th and $55 after that (3RRR members get a $3 discount). \n• Race plus One Day License – add $15 to the above prices \n(As a sanctioned USA Triathlon (USAT) event\, all participants are required to have a USAT license. If you are not a card carrying member a One Day License must be purchased for $15.  If you are a current USAT member you won’t need to purchase a One Day License. Simply enter your USAT Member Number where prompted.) \n3RRR members get the discount mentioned above if they register by the pre-registration deadline of August 15\, 2022. \nTO REGISTER FOR THE PLUTONIUM MAN TRIATHLON\, GO TO: \nPlutonium Man Triathlon (runsignup.com) \nAthlete limit for this event is 225 individuals. Please give us a little time after the race to have your award ready for you\, so you have plenty of time to stow your gear after the race before picking up your award.  Awards are race glasses that will NOT be mailed.  If you miss the pick up after the race you will need to contact Eric at sageg@charter.net to arrange a pickup time for your award. \nOn-line Registration Deadline: To be pre-registered for The Plutonium Man Triathlon\, you must enter by August 15\, 2022.  A late fee of $10 will apply after this date.  On-line registration will be available until August 23\, 2022\, or end earlier if participant limit is reached. SUMMARY:Open Water River Swims
DESCRIPTION:We plan to start getting is some river swims starting on July 1st.  We will meet up Friday mornings at 7:30 and Saturday mornings at 8:30.  Meet up spot is the same as previous years\, which is the public parking lot just upstream of the Marina Vista Estates townhouse complex (downstream from the River Front Hotel).  We drive to the upstream get in point and then swim downriver\, getting out across from Eric’s townhouse\, where a warm water hose will be available to wash off the river scum and rinse out your wetsuit.  3 things to know: \n\nYou need to swim with a swim buoy or some other brightly colored floaty toy that increases your visibility to the boaters.  When everyone wears one it increases the visibility for all of us.\nThese are not lifeguarded swims.  Some times we may have an escort kayak or SUP\, but don’t expect one.\nDue to number 2 above\, if you show up for the swim you are making the statement that you are capable of swimming in the river.  The river is colder and darker than any pool you swim in. Please take that into account before you show up for a swim.\n\nNOTE: DIFFERENT MEET UP SPOT ON THIS DATE!!!  MEET IN THE PARKING LOT ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE WSU TRI-CITIES CAMPUS FOR A PREVIEW OF THE PLUTONIUM MAN TRIATHLON SWIM COURSE.  MEET AT 8:00 AM. \nContact Eric at sageg@charter.net with any questions.

Here is a chance to give triathlon a try. See if you’ve got what it takes to get to the finish line…we think you can do it. \nHey parents –> Here is a chance for your young athletes to try something a little different by putting a swim\, bike\, and run together in one event. We have designed a safe course with plenty of adult supervision that will be fun for the kids to challenge.  The 250-yard swim will be in the river in a shallow area near shore with plenty of boat and swimmer support. The 4.5-mile bike leg is all on a bike path\, except for a short portion in the boat ramp parking lot which will be heavily barricaded and controlled. Helmets are required and any bike in good working condition may be used. The 1-mile run will be completely on a foot path. \nCOVID SAFETY PRECAUTIONS: We will be following the guidelines from the Governor’s office to keep everyone safe and healthy before\, during\, and after the race.  This guidance may change between now and race day\, and we expect 100% compliance from all race participants\, parents and volunteers. We will email the safety precautions we plan to take just before race day. \nWhat: It’s a triathlon that starts with a swim\, goes directly into a bike\, and then finishes with the run. Once the starting gun goes off\, the action is non-stop and doesn’t end until the run is completed. \nWhere: Howard Amon Park\, Richland\, Washington. Look for the picnic shelter in the south end of the park\, on the river side of the Richland Community Center for race HQ. \nRace Day Schedule: On race day\, arrive early and be prepared for the following:\n• 7:00 am – Packet pickup starts\n• 8:30 am – Mandatory pre-race meeting\n• 9:00 am – Race start\n• 11:00am – Course closes \nCost: $25 per triathlete\, which includes a race t-shirt and a one-day insurance license for the USA Triathlon Federation.  After August 8\, 2022 the cost goes up to $30 since we will be mailing you your shirt. \nUSAT: Your entry fee includes a one-day insurance license for the USA Triathlon Federation. \nTO REGISTER FOR THE TITANIUM MAN JUNIOR TRIATHLON\, GO TO: \nTitanium Man Junior Triathlon (runsignup.com) \n.Pre-Registration: The only way to guarantee a t-shirt on race day is to register on-line by the pre-registration deadline of August 18\, 2022. \nOn-line Registration Deadline: August 17\, 2021 and registration will close earlier if participant limit of 200 is reached. \nAwards: The overall boy and girl champion in the race receives a special award\, along with the top 3 boys and girls in the 7 -8\, 9-10\, and 11 -12 age groups.  You can check the Negative Split website on your phone at www.nsplit.com/results\, or look to the paper copies posted at the picnic shelter where you picked up your packet to see if you placed in your age group or were the overall winners of the race.  We will have the award ceremony as soon as possible after the race. \nTHERE IS NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION – THE ONLY WAY TO REGISTER IS ON-LINE BY THE DATES LISTED ABOVE.
