SUMMARY:Open Water River Swims
DESCRIPTION:OPEN WATER RIVER SWIMS! To help you get ready for our local triathlons\, including the 70.3 in September\, we will have open water river swims on Friday and Saturday mornings starting June 21 at 8:00 am. Meet at the public parking lot just upstream (north) of 178 Bradly Blvd in Richland and we will carpool up to the start at Howard Amon Park.  After we swim back down\, you can use the warm water hose in Eric’s driveway to warm up and get the river muck off you and your wetsuit! \nSome important notes about these swims.  There is NO LIFEGUARD for these swims.  If you show up to swim it means that you are capable of doing the swim without help from others.  We may have an escort kayak/paddle board every now and then\, but don’t count on that.  Secondly\, especially since we won’t always have an escort kayak\, you must swim with a swim safety buoy to provide extra visibility to the boaters on the river.  A brightly colored pool toy tethered to your ankle works\, but the SaferSwimmer buoy (or other brands) usually have a dry bag within the buoy that is mighty handy for storing flops\, keys\, and whatever during your swim. \nForward any questions to Eric at sageg@charter.net.

SUMMARY:4 X 4 X 48 Run
DESCRIPTION:Brian is partnering with Tri-Cities FCA ( Fellowship of Christian Athletes) for a local fundraiser. He is going to participate in David Goggins 4x4x48 challenge where he will run 4 miles\, every 4 hours for 48 hours. This is his 4th year doing this event and 3rd year partnering with FCA \nI was wondering if 3 Rivers Road Runners would be interested in putting it on your calendar and/or posting about it over social media? \nThe idea is to get people in the community participating in one or more of the 12 different segments.  Yes we are trying to raise funds but we are really trying to get people in the community to run\, walk\, or bike with Brian. \n  \nWhen: Friday March 22nd-Sunday March 24th(Every 4 hours) \n  \nWhere: All 3 Cities! Check out the website for specific locations. The two midnight runs will be held at Richland High School Track and Kamiakin High School Track! \n  \nWhy: To see our community be more active all while supporting Tri-Cities FCA! We have two fundraising goals this year. \n1) To provide pizza during middle/high school huddles \n2) To support the FCA Equip Fitness Gym  scholarship fund \n  \nFormat:  Run\, walk\, or bike some or all segments.  Brian will be running 4 miles\, every 4 hours\, for 48 hours. \n  \nFinal Celebration: Join us for a Fun Run at the 12th Segment. Then food\, and games at Bethel Church Gym on Sunday\, March 24th 4pm. \n  \nHere is the link for more info plus an attachment of the schedule and locations \nhttps://www.tricitieswafca.org/4x4x48?fbclid=PAAaaFEuvxOSwwHOPvydfflQKAKfiIXv4DecyuADmwo7rQW7xsIBC1kOlEumY_aem_AZ0AQ4c835GWxN3Z_bqYkKbLelapWOuIau_hEtps8Qdzlc76v28Q6pZOOGxnqFSnNbo \n

SUMMARY:Richland RunFest Training Group
DESCRIPTION:We will all start our group sessions for the half marathon on Saturday mornings at 0645 from Wake Up Coffee (formerly Black Rock Coffee\, formerly Richland Roasters). October 7 will be our first group session and it will be an easy 3 mile run/walk.  Our 10k training starts the week of Oct 30. This year we will be adding a 5k training schedule that starts the week of Jan 15 \nThis is free\, free\, free. Start talking to your friends and family about this wonderful free experience. Now that Labor Day is upon us\, it is time to plan for Richland Runfest 2024 training. \n\nWe witness sunrises so beautiful it makes us cry.\nWe make wonderful friends.\nWe lose weight over the winter.\nIt doesn’t cost anything.\nWe learn how to complete a half marathon from nice experienced people. Nobody will yell at you. We guarantee it.\n\nWe will be repeating our Richland Runfest training sessions starting in October. This will be our 7th year hosting the Runfest training group. Our primary objective is to help beginning runners and walkers complete a half marathon in a safe nurturing environment. We welcome anyone. You don’t have to sign up for the race to join us. For those of you that are experienced we welcome you as well. We will make you faster. \n“The miracle isn’t that I finished. The miracle is that I had the courage to start.” \nJohn Bingham \n  \nThe schedule is broken down into stages. \n\nWeeks 1 thru 6. (Build lateral strength) We spend a lot of efforts on grass\, gravel or dirt trails. Working out on uneven ground helps make those stabilizing muscles and tendons really strong. We will need those as we start increasing our mileage. Run slow and build strength to avoid injury. We encourage utilizing a run/walk methodology. Jeff Galloway has some nice tips on his web site. http://www.jeffgalloway.com/training/half-marathon-training/\nWeek 7. (Recovery) These workouts are done at an easy relaxing pace.\nWeeks 8 thru 12. (Build mileage) This is when we start increasing our weekly mileage from 15 to 23.\nWeek 13. (Recovery) Easy breezy nice and easy\nWeeks 14 thru 19. (Build strength and speed) Monday workouts are hills and Thursday workouts are intervals. (go hard\, then easy)\nWeeks 20 and 21. (Taper) Reduce our mileage and get ready for race day!\n\n  \n
