The first CROP Hunger Walks took place in Bismarck\, North Dakota (1969)\, and York\, Pennsylvania (1970). Since then\, CROP Hunger Walk events have been held in hundreds of communities\, large and small\, raising millions of dollars to eradicate hunger and poverty. \nNo registration fee. DESCRIPTION:THE PLUTONIUM MAN TRIATHLON TAKES PLACE ON AUGUST 27\, 2022 \nTO REGISTER FOR THE PLUTONIUM MAN TRIATHLON\, GO TO: \nPlutonium Man Triathlon (runsignup.com) \nNEW THIS YEAR:  A sprint distance triathlon will be added to the race\, so you have the choice of Olympic distance\, sprint distance\, or relay teams for the Olympic distance event. \nRACE FORMAT: 1.3 km swim; 40 km bike; 10 km run for the Olympic distance triathlon and 1.3 km swim\, 20 km bike\, and 5 km run for the sprint distance triathlon. \nCourse Description: Swimmers enter the Columbia River at a beach about 400 yards upstream of the North Richland starch plant (note that the start on the map is not accurate…we will not start at the POB low dock barge slip) and swim downstream with the current (fast times\, baby) 1.3 km to the exit just upstream of Sprout Road.  The single transition area will be at the SE corner of the WSU Tri-Cities campus grounds.  Cyclists will head west on Sprout Road\, turn right on George Washington Way and follow the course as described on the course maps.  Olympic distance triathletes will do 2 loops of the bike course while the sprint distance triathletes do one loop. \nThe run will also consist of two loops that take runners upstream (north) along the foot path\, with a hard left turn by the Triton Submarine monument\, back along Richardson Road\, taking a left on Crimson Way\, and back through the WSU campus.  Olympic distance triathletes do two loops of this course and the sprint distance triathletes do one loop of the run course. \nCOVID SAFETY PRECAUTIONS: We will be following the guidelines from the Governor’s office to keep everyone safe and healthy before\, during\, and after the race.  We will send out pertinent information on any precautions we need to take about a week before the race. \nFees: \n• Race – $45 by August 15th and $55 after that (3RRR members get a $3 discount). \n• Race plus One Day License – add $15 to the above prices \n(As a sanctioned USA Triathlon (USAT) event\, all participants are required to have a USAT license. We have designed a safe course with plenty of adult supervision that will be fun for the kids to challenge.  The 250-yard swim will be in the river in a shallow area near shore with plenty of boat and swimmer support. The 4.5-mile bike leg is all on a bike path\, except for a short portion in the boat ramp parking lot which will be heavily barricaded and controlled. Helmets are required and any bike in good working condition may be used. The 1-mile run will be completely on a foot path. \nCOVID SAFETY PRECAUTIONS: We will be following the guidelines from the Governor’s office to keep everyone safe and healthy before\, during\, and after the race.  This guidance may change between now and race day\, and we expect 100% compliance from all race participants\, parents and volunteers. DESCRIPTION:TO REGISTER FOR THE RAGE IN THE SAGE DUATHLON\, GO TO: \nRage in the Sage Duathlon (runsignup.com) \nDATE: Saturday\, May 14\, 2022 \nTIME: Race starts at 9:00 am and the course closes at 11:30 am. \nDESCRIPTION: The Rage in the Sage Duathlon is at Kiona Vineyards and Winery in Benton City. The race starts with a 2.5 mile run along the gravel and dirt roads that surround the Kiona Vineyards and Winery (44612 N. Sunset Rd; Benton City). The run is totally cross country. The cycle leg (MOUNTAIN BIKES\, ONLY) is 10 miles long and takes a few loops via the dirt roads through the Kiona Vineyards and neighboring KS Vineyards\, and then takes Artz Road and Sunset Road back to the transition area. After racking your bike\, repeat the first run to reach the finish line. \nCOVID SAFETY PRECAUTIONS: We will be following the guidelines from the Governor’s office to keep everyone safe and healthy before\, during\, and after the race.  We expect 100% compliance from all race participants and volunteers.  We will email all participants the list of Covid precautions that we will be taking just before the race rolls around. \nNOTE TO LOCALS Kiona Vineyards and Winery\,KS Vineyards\,and Artz Road are all private property. Do not do training rides on these portions of the course without contacting Eric Greager (race director) at sageg@charter.net . \nCourse training rides will be held on April 9th\, 16th 23rd\, and 30th and May 7th. Training rides start at noon from Kiona Vineyards and Winery in Benton City. \nEntry Fee:  $40 by May 2nd and after that it will be $55 ($3 discount for 3RRR members if by May 2nd). \nEntry Fee plus One Day License: add $15 to the above prices if you don’t have a USAT card.\n(As a sanctioned USA Triathlon (USAT) event\, all participants are required to have a USAT license. DESCRIPTION:This is a run that celebrates Down Syndrome Day! It is a fundraiser for the DS Association in our area & all proceeds go to this organization. Ever since the race director\, Raquel Sampson\, had a child with DS\, she wanted to create an event that would promote awareness\, inclusion\, acceptance & an opportunity to get individuals like her daughter the joy that comes from running & crossing a finish line. That’s what this run is all about! This run has a 1mile\, 5k & 10k distances. It starts at Chiawana Park in Pasco & is an out & back course on the footpath.
