3RRR Club Meeting at Kiona Winery on May 11th

Posted April 23, 2019 @ 2:59pm — by EricGreager

Our May club meeting will be out at Kiona Vineyards and Winery on the 11th starting at 1:00 pm. Kiona Winery is located at 44612 North Sunset Road in Benton City (hopefully you have already been there many times!). We will start off the meeting with an exciting wine run through the vineyards, so show up in your running gear. This wine run will challenge your speed at negotiating the vineyards along with your ability to identify some very fine wines. Here is how it works – the loop through the vineyards is about a half mile in length and you will complete 4 loops of this course. You will be provided with a scorecard (bring your own pen or pencil) to keep with you during the run. At the end of each loop you will be given a small blind tasting of one of Kiona Winery’s premiere wines and you will identify it on your scorecard. The clock is running the whole time and your time stops when you take your 4th and final taste of wine. On your scorecard you write down your clock finishing time and your selection of wine at the end of each of the 4 loops. For every correct wine identification you will get to deduct one minute from your finishing time. The person with the lowest time after these deductions is crowned the champion and earns the admiration and respect of all present. Also, the champ gets to take home a bottle of wine.

We plan to hang out on the deck at Kiona Winery after the wine run and have a meeting/wine drinking extravaganza. Please bring some sort of snacks to share with everyone, since no other food is available at the winery. Keep it simple, because there will not be any place to plug in a crock pot or heat something up in the oven. Crackers, cheese, fruit, etc. are the best bets to share with everyone. Hope you can make it and that we see you there.
